If you would like to creatively respond to the constant downgrading of creative degrees at UWS and beyond perhaps you will be interested in participating in the following project titled The Promoter Presents: Serial Boxes, read on for details.

The Promoter is concerned about the continual downgrading of arts education. Specifically The Promoter is troubled by the elimination or restructuring of key programs at the University of Western Sydney, where Dance and Performance degrees have been cut and where Fine Arts and Electronic Arts have been downgraded and reshaped. For instance, a generic Bachelor of Contemporary Arts is meant to have an intake in 2008 however, many have expressed concern as to whether it will generate the kind of conceptually innovative artists that UWS has gained a reputation for over the past two decades.

The Promoter is fretful that creative degrees are appearing progressively manufactured and has decided to begin an arts supermarket that will promote the latest trend: a Serial Box art degree. Unfortunately little else besides Serial Boxes will be available due to restructuring and limited funding.

YOU are invited to take part in shaping this degree by donating a Serial Box artwork expressing your thoughts about arts degrees. This can take a political, factual, subjective, or 'other' approach.

YOU can achieve this by creating a cereal box reflecting your very own oppositional critique of serial branding. The Promoter will include your work as long as your cereal box conforms to the basic rectangular shape of everyday cereal packaging. If you wish to be acknowledged for your contributing box - please label - alternatively toy with anonymity.

Serial Boxes will be exhibited in July at Mori Gallery - the due date of boxes is Monday 2nd July. Please contact The Promoter for any further details at: autonomouspromoter@yahoo.com.au
