SHINY NOISE AND LOUD LIGHTS

It’s going to be big, it’s going to be huge, it is going to be amazing. It is the 2006 Graduation Exhibition of the University of Western Sydney Fine Arts and Electronic Arts students.

The opening night will be on Friday the 24th November at the infamous Z building at Kingswood Campus to be officially opened by special guest Kon Gouriotis (Executive Director of Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre).

With only ten days to go this is your chance to support the next generation of Western Sydney artists, and an exciting opportunity to venture out West if this is not the norm for you.

Wow,
These UWS artists or seers as I now consider them have tapped into some kind of dark energy or higher power.
There is a lot of black stuff seeping out of the earth in Z.
You'd have to be out of your FUCKING MIND to miss this particlar graduation amalgamation...

Would it not have been more potent, at a time when politics and bureaucracy are about to dismantle this art school, to have had an ARTIST, not a Bureaucrat open what may be the Last celebration of what goes on at UWS - That being ART, not Bureaucracy...I am sure Joan Grounds would have said a few words that would be of more cultural value...Art is NOT about gaining validation from institutions and the people who 'run' them, if anything its role is to critique the systems of power and show them for what they are, Bureaucracy with a capital B. Yes, many former UWS students have gone on to work in the 'arts industry'...but remember No artists' No 'industry', this seems have been forgoten in australia at present, where curators and executive directors hold alot more power than they often deserve, and have forgoten that art is not a product or a fashion statement, or a tool by which to promote their institution. I am sure the art will make up for this poor discision. I wish all the students the best for their installation and final preparations, looking forward to seeing, hearing some great ART.

UWS Students do not waver. Do not be intimidated, you are making history with this process. One day a book will probably be written about your efforts. This is far too great a cultural asset in the Western suburbs of Sydney for it to go down without a fight. Keep up the good work and congratulations on this blog. You should be given a journalism award for redressing the lack of transperancy in the university system.

Indeed. Couldn't agree more. Sadly, the bureaucrats can't get enough of each other's company. Which is why one bureaucrat (or incompetent) pulled in another to cut the ribbon.

THE ABOVE DETAILS MAY BE COMPLETELY WRONG.

As for black stuff seeping out of the ground...what about out of my guts? I've just catharted, and i may have followed through.
